Immigrants

What does it take to become an immigrant?

Resilience, at the very least, together with courage and willingness to take a risk. To immigrate is to leave a home and a family, friends and places. How painful can it be? No one knows until they wake up one day wondering about their social identity: who am I now? Am I an American already or...?

Immigrants need moral support, when times get too hard immigrants need physical and financial support too.

We feel vulnerable in front of the new world we happened to become the part of.

We feel like we do not belong in the new society we have to identify with now.

We struggle with finding a job that would be at least a tiny bit close to the one we had at our ex-home.

We need to be welcomed and valued by our newly acquainted compatriots.

We simply want to build a good life for our families, not harming anyone, not “taking away” anyone’s job.

We just need some understanding of our customs and traditions.

A chance to be accepted is all we need and ask for...
